Nicol & Co raise more than £1,000 for charity by quite a few whiskers

Six whiskery chaps at a leading Worcestershire estate agent have raised more than £1,000 in their Movember efforts to help raise awareness of men’s health issues.

The moustache-growing feat by six colleagues at the Droitwich and Worcester offices of Nicol & Co came after the company’s mortgage advisor Nick Marsh was diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer.

Those taking part in the month of not shaving were Matt Nicol, Shaun Crowe, Nick Marsh, Luke Alexander, Richard Nicol and Tom Jackson.

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, said: “We’ve been supporting Movember for the last ten years, and were even more determined this year after Nick was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“We’ve already broken through the £1,000 barrier and are hoping to raise even more as our donation link remains live well into December.”

Movember runs throughout every November to help raise awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

The Movember Foundation wants to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030, a condition which than 1.4 million men are diagnosed with each year.

Mr Nicol added: “After what Nick went through, we wanted to take part in Movember again in a proud, fun way to persuade more men to get themselves checked out.”

Nick Marsh, who has now recovered after his treatment said: “What a top effort by my pals at Nicol & Co! They had a laugh and raised crucial funds and awareness about men’s health at the same time, which was brilliant.”
