Nicol & Co’s 24-hour Cyclothon to Raise Money For Children’s Cancer Fund

Energetic staff at a Worcester estate agent are taking part in a 24-hour cyclothon to raise money for a local charity that’s helping children with cancer.

The fundraising event starts at 2pm on Friday 27 March at Nicol & Co’s offices at 46 Barbourne Road, and staff will take 30-minute turns to keep the pedals turning on a spin bike until 2pm on the Saturday.

All the funds raised from the cyclothon will go to The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, a Worcester charity which supports children with cancer.

The charity was set up in memory of city girl Grace Kelly, who died aged four in 2014.

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, said: “This year our community engagement team has set itself the challenge of organising four events to raise money for our chosen charities.

“We have supported The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust for a number of years so felt they were a great cause to start with.”

Nicol & Co’s community engagement team is headed up by Kayleigh Rogers, and she is hoping to raise more than £2,000 over the weekend with the help of her colleagues.

Ms Rogers said: “This is a great charity and we’re so pleased to be doing something to help.

“We want to send a big thank you to Liberty Leisure of Wychbold who have loaned us the spin bike to use for this event.”

The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust raises money to help raise awareness of childhood cancer, improving education on the early signs and symptoms, and promoting earlier diagnosis.

It makes grants for research into the causes and treatments of cancers that affect children, and it offers support for families of children with cancer.

Michelle Nolan, community and corporate fundraiser at the trust, said: “As a local Worcester charity, the trust is so pleased that Nicol & Co continue to support our fundraising efforts.

“All the money raised from this event will be carefully used to help raise awareness, fund research and support families of children with cancer.”
