Rik Mayall Comedy Festival Laughter, Legacy and Local Spirit of Droitwich

Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire – This summer, Droitwich will explode with laughter and creative energy as it plays host to the Rik Mayall Comedy Festival, a new annual celebration inspired by one of Britain’s most legendary comedic talents—and proud son of Droitwich—Rik Mayall.

Taking place across the town from May 31st to June 7th, 2025, the festival is set to blend big-name headline acts with an open-access fringe, putting the community at its heart and the spirit of comedy front and centre.

Stuart joined us for our Just Local Podcast earlier this month to share how this unique community-powered event came to life, its deep connection to comedy legend Rik Mayall, and the incredible mix of over 130 shows taking place across 25 venues—including salons, pubs, and even barbershops.

Two Sides, One Festival

The Rik Mayall Comedy Festival is divided into two main strands:

  • The Headline Line-Up – A curated programme of high-profile comedians and live shows appearing at venues across the town, bringing top-tier talent to the people of Droitwich.
  • The Open Fringe – Local venues, businesses, pubs, and community spaces will host their own comedy events—from stand-up and improv to sketch, satire, and even comedy karaoke—offering a platform for emerging voices and creative chaos.

“Rik was a trailblazer, a whirlwind of energy, and a champion of original, fearless comedy. This festival is a chance to honour his legacy in the place where it all began, and to inspire the next generation of performers and creators,” said Stuart Panrucker, Festival Director.

A Town-Wide Celebration

From the main stage to the back room of your local pub, Droitwich will be transformed into a hub of humour and heart. Expect themed events, surprise pop-ups, interactive installations, and plenty of opportunities for everyone—from first-time performers to seasoned pros—to take part.

Whether you’re here to watch, perform, or just soak up the anarchic joy Rik would have loved, there’s a space for you in this unique celebration.
