Are you reaching the age of retirement and trying to prepare for the future? It’s a time of change in many ways and an important area to think about is your property and where you are going to live.

While you prepare for the later years in your life you’ll want to ensure you’re living somewhere comfortable and secure.

Why move to a retirement property?

A retirement property can mean less stress, a handier location, more money once you’ve sold your previous home and much more.

It may be a while since you last moved but you can be reassured that at Nicol & Co we do everything we can to ensure your move in Worcestershire is as stress-free as possible.

If you decide to move to a retirement property there’s several factors that you will want to consider, these include:

  • Location

Location is definitely one of the main considerations when deciding about your retirement property. Do you currently live in the city because of work but want to move out to somewhere quieter? Or maybe you want to move closer to other family members or friends who are also retiring.

The closer you are to what matters most to you, the easier your life will be. It is also worth thinking about the fact that since you’ll be retired you’ll be spending a lot of time in your property so it’s important you choose a home you’re happy to spend long amounts of time in. Aspects to consider include the views from the windows, noise levels and local amenities being within walking distance.

  • Special requirements

We understand special requirements vary between each individual. Finding a retirement property that ticks your specific needs is something we’re committed to doing.

Whether it’s finding a retirement property with easy access like a bungalow, a small apartment with lifts or a property that has assistance, we can adjust the search to meet your requirements.

  • Size

Getting a retirement property that is the right size for you will be another important consideration. How much space will you need? Will you have frequent guests staying? Do you have a lot of possessions?

You’ll want to have somewhere that is spacious enough to accommodate your needs and belongings but not too much you find it hard work upkeeping the place. Striking a balance is needed and we can definitely help you come to a conclusion on a property that would be a suitable size.

  • Security

Security measures come in a variety of ways and might be something you haven’t considered before. You might be looking for a gated community, telecom answering system, CCTV or 24 hour security on site.

What about my current property?

Your current property is also something we can help with. Our comprehensive property services mean we can help you look at your options including selling and letting and help you come to a decision on what is best for you to do.
