Have your say: Does Droitwich Spa Need a Community Banking Hub?

Why This Matters
With just one bank left in Droitwich Spa, local residents and businesses are struggling with reduced access to essential banking services. The Placeboard and Droitwich Spa Town Council are fighting to secure a Community Banking Hub, but it isn’t going to be easy, and they need the support of the community!
In September 2024, Cash Access UK assessed the banking needs for Droitwich Spa, and concluded that residents could travel to Bromsgrove instead. This decision was made without fully understanding the impact on the community. Unfortunately, the 28-day appeal window was missed, meaning gathering community support is more crucial than ever to support.
Gathering 10,000+ Responses for Change
Droitwich Spa has a population of over 25,000 people. To make a strong case, the Place Board and Town Council need as many responses as possible to show the real demand and need for a Banking Hub. Your opinion can help challenge this decision and push for better local services.
How You Can Help
A short survey has been put together to gather feedback from residents and businesses. It takes less than 2 minutes to complete, and your response could make a real difference.
Hear What Some Respondents Have to Say
With responses coming in thick and fast, it is clear that there are many reasons why our community needs this change. Hear what some have to say:
• I’m registered disabled & cannot get to Bromsgrove or Worcester easily.
• Need is greater for elderly people who don’t and can’t use internet banking. Older people like to pay bills in person and withdraw and deposit cash locally
• Issues with probate, buying & selling of houses etc cannot be done online.
• My son has special needs, going to Worcester causes to much anxiety
• Banking needs to be made available to all. Though I can use online banking this is not always the preference for everyone and especially the elderly. Droitwich as a small town needs to provide this for everyone. I have completed this survey to ensure that the elderly have a voice as I know that my parents (though not in Droitwich) find that banking services are being withdrawn and there preference is face to face and also offers them connection in society.
