More streets than last year already taking part in next month’s ‘Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’!
More than 70 streets are already registered to take part in ‘The Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ next month, organisers at Nicol & Co estate agents have revealed.
The early total of streets signed up for the community event on Saturday 8 June has already surpassed the 45 that took part in 2023.
Three of the streets are in Malvern, which is the first time the event is taking place there, and several more streets across Worcestershire have registered their initial interest.
Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, explained that with four weeks still to go before the event, there was plenty of time for more streets to sign up to take part.
Mr Nicol said: “Everyone enjoyed a wonderful day last year, and we were hoping for an even bigger and better event for 2024.
“We’re therefore thrilled that we have more than 70 streets taking part this year, a figure which is already larger than last year’s, and with four weeks still to go.”
The mass community day first ran in June last year to help homeowners across the county simultaneously hold garage sales to declutter their homes and sell unwanted items.
Vicki Sawyer, of Henley Drive in Droitwich, who was one of the householders to take part last year, said: “I can’t wait to join in the garage sale this year.
“Last year was fantastic. I set up from 10am to 4pm and got lots of visitors in the glorious sunshine, so hopefully the weather will be on our side again this year.
“It was great getting to know the neighbours, so when people came I’d have a bit of a chat and chinwag about where they’d come from.
“Last year I made nearly £100 at my garage sale and ran a tombola where essentially everyone got a prize, so it was great fun. This year I’m looking forward to getting rid of other people’s treasures that I see as my junk.
“I’ll have a great variety of things available, from toys and games to girls’ and women’s clothes as well.”
Every street signing up for what will be the event’s second consecutive year on 8 June will receive plenty of hints and tips to help households with their sorting and packaging process.
Staff at Nicol & Co are also providing signage and marketing support to help promote streets where homeowners are taking part.
Mr Nicol added: “The ‘Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ has already proved itself as a great way for people to sell items they no longer needed, at the same time making some extra money.
“Importantly, people also enjoyed getting to know neighbours and visitors on their drives and front gardens, and it’s this community networking that is one of the most important aspects of the day.
“With 45 streets joining the day in 2023, and with some streets having several households joining, we estimated that at least 80 households took part.
“With more than 70 streets taking part this year, with many streets already having multiple participants confirmed, we’re hoping that at least 100 households hold simultaneous garage sales, if not many more.”
‘The Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ is welcoming as many neighbours as possible on streets across Droitwich, Worcester, Malvern and surrounding areas to take part in the day – either hosting a sale themselves or visiting to pick up a few bargains.
The deadline for signing up is 29 May 2024. Anyone who wants to get involved in the ‘Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ day can find out more by emailing [email protected] or sending a direct message to Nicol & Co via their social media pages:

Tips for a Successful Garage Sale Experience:
- Bring small notes and change, as not all sellers may have enough to provide change for large notes.
- Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, as you’ll be walking between different garage sales.
- Bring a reusable shopping bag or a small trolley to carry your purchases.
- Be prepared to haggle, but always be polite and respectful in your negotiations.
- Arrive early to get the best selection, but also consider visiting sales later in the day for potential price reductions.
The Big Worcestershire Garage Sale is a fantastic event that promotes community spirit and helps residents declutter their homes. Whether you’re a seller or a shopper, this event promises a day of excitement, great deals, and wonderful memories. Mark your calendars, and we’ll see you at the Big Worcestershire Garage Sale!
