Uniting the property industry to strengthen communities

Nicol & Co is reaching out to fellow agents across the UK with an important message centered around community support. We’re asking for the property industry to join hands in supporting local initiatives and making a meaningful impact on their community.

Operating from Droitwich, Worcester, and Malvern, we initiated our Community Fund back in 2021 during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, with the amazing support of our community, we’ve managed to raise over £50,000 – a testament to the collective generosity and commitment to bettering our local areas.

Our founder and managing director, Matt Nicol, has been advocating for other agents to follow suit. He comments: “We are extremely fortunate to live and work in a beautiful part of the country, but as with every area across the UK, many community initiatives in Worcestershire are struggling for funding and support.

“I have had chats with some agents who recognize the work we are doing but are reluctant to ‘copy’ us.

“My message across the industry is – please copy our Community Fund as much as you like!

“The cost of living issues have not gone away, Christmas is almost upon us, and as we move into 2024 it is just as important to keep supporting our local communities.”

The essence of our Community Fund lies in its promise: for every property sold, we contribute £100 to a chosen school or local community organization of the seller’s choice. In just the first year, we raised £12,000, and since then, it’s been an ongoing success story.

Expanding our efforts, we organized the ‘Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ in June 2023, where 80 households joined forces to declutter and sell unwanted items simultaneously. In addition to this, our in-house marketing and social media team spearheaded a campaign to help boost the local economy. The campaign named “Why Worcester,” with editions highlighting “Why Droitwich” and “Why Malvern” shines a spotlight on local businesses, inviting their founders to share their stories and express their deep connection to their towns and communities.

Recently, we were humbled to receive three prestigious awards at the Best Estate Agents Guide 2024. These awards recognized our commitment to exceptional service, expertise, and our deep-rooted involvement in Worcestershire’s community.

Matt believes the agency’s deep understanding of Worcestershire’s local dynamics and active involvement in the community have been significant factors in their success.

Now his message to fellow estate agents across the UK is “Join with us, build your own Community Fund, and everyone’s a winner!”.

He said: “We would be delighted if someone else wants to pick up on the work we do and can build on it and enhance their relationships with their local communities too.”
